Hammer Time!

On Monday I will yet have another surgery on my right foot. Soon the man made parts will out number the ones I was born with. You may have heard me complain about my toes and how they scrunch up. Well since I hit my deductible with health insurance this year I decided to go back and see the doctor. Turns out I have hammer toe on my second toe. To fix this they will need to go in and basically put something in the knuckle to make it not bend anymore. They call it a 'smart toe' and is a new procedure to correct hammer toes. Unlike my ankle surgeries I will NOT be immobile. I will have to wear a special shoe for six weeks but will be able to walk right away. Good news they x-rayed my ankle while I was in and it looks good. Hard to believe it has been 4 years since I broke my ankle.

Here is a video that talks about hammer toe and the smart toe implant.

If you don't have a queasy stomach here is a video of the actual surgery.

Sam update - I asked Jeff to do Sam duty last night so I could have a break and a full nights sleep. Well as luck goes Sam feel asleep about 9:00 pm and slept till 7:00 am this morning. Longest stretch yet. The cherry was Evan slept in till 10:00 am when I needed to get up so I could take him to get his hair cut.

My Heart Melts

Yesterday it finally happened the day all Mom's wait for, Evan says Momma now!!!! He has been saying Sam since Sam was born (and we decided on his name) and for a month he has been saying Da Da but when asked to say Momma we got silence. Last night at dinner we were playing the whose this game and he finally softly said Momma. For this wonderful moment Momma gave Evan an extra graham cracker for dessert.

Yesterday was a great day because Sam had the best night yet. Wednesday night was the hardest night when we did not go to bed until 4:30 in the morning. But yesterday he went to bed at 11:30 then we were up for bottle at 2:30 back to bed at 3:30 and then he slept till 8:30. Is it possible we are rounding the sleep deprivation phase, oh please let it be. Last night was it was bed at 1:30 up at 5:00 for a bottle back to bed at 6:00 then we slept till 8:30 again. Not as good but a heck of a lot better than Wednesday night.

These are the great moments of Motherhood and I am loving every minute. We have a video of Evan saying Momma and I will post soon.

popchips!

Popchips can't get enough of them! This is my current food craving. Jeff sampled them at Costco and I have been looking for them every time I go to the store.

They are pretty healthy because they are popped not fried or baked. I would defiantly recommend them. I was afraid they might taste like a rice cake but they don't, they are very YUMMY! They are pricey but it is worth it if you are looking for a more healthy snack.

Here is a link to their website for more information. They also have a search option where you can put in your zip code and find out where you can buy them. I put in West Olive and nothing came up so I put in Holland and found out I could get them at Target.

Popchips!

Let me know if you try them and if you like them as much as I do.

Beach Day

Evan and I had a special day together. We met our friends the Dykema's at the beach for fun in the sun. I am not a big beach person and it turns out Evan really isn't either, but we still had a great time. I did coax Evan to take off his shoes but he refused to take off his shirt which was good because it help protect him from getting sun burned. He was afraid of Lake Michigan, you can see that from the new pictures I posted on Flickr he only dared to get near the edge. He eventually decided he wanted to play under the umbrella so he could stay in the shade. After watching all the other kids in the lake I am glad he is afraid, we can wait to swim in the big lake. Speaking of being afraid I actually rescued one of the Dykema kids. He was wandering out in the lake by himself and I volunteered to go out and tell him he needed to come closer to shore. He walked out and he all the sudden was in water over his head with big waves today. Just as I reached him I saw him go under and struggle to keep his head above the water. Before I could grab him he went under again. Luckily I was very close to him and able to grab him and carry him back to safety. The more I think about it the scary it seems. In the moment I stayed calm as nothing scary was happening. He was scared enough he didn't go back in the water while I was there. Besides that we did have a great time. I treated Evan to a Carmel Frappacino with out the coffee and he loved it. I know I am starting him way to early with a Starbucks habit and I can barely afford my own, but he begs me for a sip when I get one just for myself and who knew you could get one without coffee. Wonder what Jeff and Sam did today. They went to Lowes to get materials to move a lawn sprinkler to make room for a AC unit. Cross our fingers we get approved for our loan and the estimates don't come in crazy expensive because we are defiantly hot this summer.

Here is a pic from todays beach outing.
